Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Dodson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nunca Subestime O Palmeiras!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Palmeiras looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
O Palmeiras feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
O Palmeiras decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dodson, up you get!
O Palmeiras shoots in and gets a takedown into Dodson's guard.
O Palmeiras controls from within his opponent's guard.
O Palmeiras trying to control but Dodson is working from the bottom.
O Palmeiras forces his way into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
O Palmeiras is working for a submission of some sort.
O Palmeiras is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dodson missing with punches from the bottom.
Dodson tries to roll over but O Palmeiras keeps him under control.
Dodson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
O Palmeiras decides to return to a standing position.
O Palmeiras shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dodson defends it nicely.
O Palmeiras tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dodson defends well and O Palmeiras ends up having to push Dodson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
O Palmeiras's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
O Palmeiras fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dodson sprawls well initially but O Palmeiras persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dodson trying to hold on to O Palmeiras's head to control him but O Palmeiras postures up.
Dodson is trying to stand back up but O Palmeiras is controlling him
O Palmeiras working Dodson over with strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dodson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, O Palmeiras has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
O Palmeiras lands a couple of good shots and Dodson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
O Palmeiras doesn't have the hooks in and Dodson manages to turn into his guard.
Dodson trying to control but O Palmeiras is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
O Palmeiras has his foot on Dodson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dodson works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are working up against the cage. O Palmeiras manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Dodson is fighting off a takedown attempt but O Palmeiras is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dodson to the mat. Dodson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
O Palmeiras postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dodson is trying to hold O Palmeiras in close to prevent damage but O Palmeiras has managed to pass into half guard.
O Palmeiras thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dodson's head.
Dodson is pressing down on O Palmeiras's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
O Palmeiras connects with a couple of short punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
O Palmeiras trying to control but Dodson is working from the bottom.
Dodson is trying to control the position but O Palmeiras postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
O Palmeiras distracts Dodson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
O Palmeiras is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
O Palmeiras lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
O Palmeiras stands and steps away. Dodson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Dodson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts O Palmeiras as he jumps to the side.
O Palmeiras scores with a takedown into Dodson's guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dodson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nunca Subestime O Palmeiras dominated that round.
That's time! Dodson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Dodson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dodson looks for a takedown but O Palmeiras sprawls well.
Dodson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. O Palmeiras looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Dodson tries to close the distance and clinch but O Palmeiras swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
O Palmeiras displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Dodson shoots in for a double leg but O Palmeiras sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Dodson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dodson gets caught napping as O Palmeiras dives in and scores a takedown. Dodson manages to retain guard.
Dodson is rocked!
O Palmeiras content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Oh Dodson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
O Palmeiras arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Dodson's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Nunca Subestime O Palmeiras!
Nunca Subestime O Palmeiras took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
