Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Shaun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Scheisse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaun comes to the cage accompanied by The Soviettes - "#1 Is Number Two". Mark Shaun has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Shaun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Scheisse!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scheisse wants to slow Shaun down by chopping away at his legs.
Shaun looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Scheisse is fending him off so far but Shaun persists. Nope, Scheisse circles away and we're back to standing.
Scheisse tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shaun paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Shaun shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scheisse pinned against the cage. Scheisse gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Shaun takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Shaun fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Shaun. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Shaun or perhaps it was just good defense by Scheisse which made him look bad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scheisse throws a nice outside leg kick.
Scheisse keeps Shaun at a distance using the push kick.

Scheisse fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shaun.
Scheisse goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Shaun shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scheisse pinned against the cage. Scheisse gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Shaun is breathing heavily.
A slapping body kick lands there for Scheisse.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Scheisse.

Scheisse scores with a leg kick.
Scheisse fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shaun.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A nice inside leg kick there by Scheisse. That's going to slow Shaun down.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Scheisse.
Shaun tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Scheisse fails in his attempt to clinch.
Scheisse lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Scheisse pushes Shaun up against the cage in a clinch.
A knee to the head by Scheisse.
Scheisse lands a nice knee to the body.
Scheisse gets through Shaun's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Shaun is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Scheisse lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Scheisse connects with a nasty looking knee right to Shaun's face.


It looks like Mark Shaun has been cut.
Scheisse lands an elbow that stopped Shaun in his tracks for a moment.
Shaun tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Scheisse's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Scheisse throws a nice outside leg kick.

Michael Scheisse seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Scheisse clinches with his opponent.
Scheisse's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Shaun fails to pull guard.

Scheisse gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shaun.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Michael Scheisse.
Scheisse tries to clinch up but Shaun circles away and keeps his distance.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Scheisse, as that shot connected.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shaun.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Shaun. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shaun closes this distance looking for a takedown but Scheisse circles away.
Scheisse buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A good leg kick by Scheisse.
Scheisse stuffs the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shaun avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
The fight stays on the outside here - Scheisse looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shaun moves out of range of the body kick from Scheisse.
Shaun tries to close the distance and clinch up but Scheisse swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Scheisse connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Shaun momentarily.

Shaun drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Scheisse wants to control but Shaun postures up.
Shaun tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Shaun is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Scheisse has escaped the position, nice work there.
Who's going to make the next move?
Scheisse is trying to control Shaun's posture but Shaun avoids it.

Shaun swings around for an armbar but Scheisse sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Shaun's guard.
Scheisse has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Scheisse pushing down on Shaun's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Well, if Scheisse is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Shaun wants to improve his position but Scheisse is controlling well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Shaun is trying to stand.
Shaun tries to roll over but Scheisse keeps him under control.
Scheisse looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Scheisse is thwarting Shaun's attempts to control the position.
Shaun is looking to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Shaun looks for a takedown but Scheisse sprawls well.

Scheisse throws a push kick but Shaun slaps the foot to one side.
Scheisse walks forward, straight into a front kick from Shaun.
Scheisse dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Shaun. That did some damage!
Scheisse tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Scheisse keeps Shaun at a distance using the push kick.
Scheisse pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shaun is out of range and Scheisse settles back down.

and Scheisse counters with a nice low kick that buckles Shaun's knee momentarily.

Scheisse throws a sloppy head kick and Shaun moves out of range easily.
Scheisse tries to score with a low kick but Shaun moves his leg out of the way.
A slapping leg kick lands for Scheisse.
Scheisse fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Shaun is out of range.
Horrible takedown by Shaun or perhaps it was just good defense by Scheisse which made him look bad.
Michael Scheisse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Scheisse lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

and Scheisse counters with a good, hard body kick but Shaun shrugs it off.

Scheisse lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

and Shaun counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

It looks like Shaun is going to stand back up.
Scheisse preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Shaun tries to stand and escape but Scheisse actually recovers to full guard.

Shaun won't allow Scheisse to get back to his feet.

Shaun is working for a kimura but Scheisse is defending it quite comfortably.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Scheisse wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Shaun is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Shaun is looking to advance position but Scheisse won't allow it.
Mark Shaun has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Scheisse is trying to stand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Scheisse tries to clinch up

and Shaun counters with a nice double leg into side control. Scheisse won't be happy with that.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Shaun showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Scheisse has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
