Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Water Sedes! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Fernandez! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sedes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sedes wants it to stay on the feet. Fernandez with a lazy takedown attempt and Sedes counters with a right hand to the body. Fernandez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sedes as he avoids it easily. Water Sedes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Fernandez. Sedes tries for a takedown but Fernandez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Fernandez throws a right and a left that Sedes avoids nicely. Fernandez looks to land a combination but Sedes avoids it well. Fernandez gets the takedown into side control. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Fernandez prevents Sedes from escaping the position. Sedes struggling a bit here. Fernandez tries to move into full mount but can't pass Sedes's legs. Fernandez tries to score with some ground and pound. Sedes controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Sedes taking punishment in the form of punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fernandez creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sedes sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sedes struggling a bit here. Fernandez lands a few punches from side control. Fernandez is looking to take a break and control but Sedes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sedes pushes Fernandez away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fernandez gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Sedes tries to get back to half guard but can't. Fernandez scoring with punches and elbows. Sedes is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Fernandez misses with the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fernandez misses with the ground and pound. Sedes wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Fernandez throws an elbow but Sedes slips to the side and avoids it well. Fernandez is looking to take a break and control but Sedes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Fernandez lands a few punches from side control. Sedes takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fernandez throws a strike aimed at the side of Sedes's head but Sedes avoids it well. Fernandez working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fernandez looks up at the clock and then as Sedes takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Fernandez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Sedes struggling a bit here. Fernandez lands a few punches from side control. Fernandez working away. Fernandez landing strikes. Sloppy strikes there by Fernandez. Fernandez tries to advance to mount but Sedes denies him. Fernandez landing strikes.
Sedes is rocked! Fernandez scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Sedes is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Fernandez can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Jason Fernandez very nearly forgot to thank Hellraiser FightGear amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name.
