Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, William Wallace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Micah Latote! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Latote dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Micah Latote seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Latote stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Latote wants it to stay on the feet. Horrible takedown by Wallace or perhaps it was just good defense by Latote which made him look bad. Latote feints a jab promting Wallace to slip. Latote then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Wallace slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like William Wallace has been cut. Wallace takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Wallace avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wallace will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Wallace. That's going to take a lot out of him. Latote tries to clinch up so Wallace counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Latote is wriggling around but Wallace manages to pass to half guard.
Wallace maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Latote could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Wallace has cracked it and Latote is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Wallace!
