The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A lazy body kick from Guy and Parker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Guy's guard now. Parker throwing strikes from guard but Guy blocks nicely. Parker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Parker throwing strikes but missing. Parker throws a big right hand that misses. Parker throws an elbow that misses. Guy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Parker's guard. Nice move by Guy! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Parker holds on and takes a little breather. I was talking to Parker's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Guy avoiding damage as Parker throws knees to the body.

Parker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Guy tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Parker is in Guy's guard. Parker throws a strike but Guy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Parker wants to improve his position but instead Guy has moved into half guard.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Parker is looking for a sweep. Guy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Parker wants to control but Guy is keeping busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Parker wants to improve his position but Guy is controlling well.
