Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Placido Casido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rock Esnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Esnar has chosen 10,000 Fists in the Air as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Placido Casido! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rock Esnar! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Esnar thows a left - swing and a miss! Casido closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Casido tries for a takedown. No joy.
Casido is looking to take this one to the mat. Casido is trying to pull guard but Esnar has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Placido Casido. That's going to take a lot out of him. Casido drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Esnar gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Casido jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Esnar walks away with a smile on his face. Casido gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. A momentary lapse in concentration from Esnar enables Casido to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Esnar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Casido pushing down on Esnar's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Esnar slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Casido slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Esnar working for a triangle but Casido defends it easily.

Casido won't allow Esnar to sweep him here. Casido is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Esnar is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Esnar has escaped and now he's on top! Casido has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Esnar is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Casido. Casido tries to buck Esnar off but Esnar is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Esnar landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Esnar fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Esnar working the ground and pound from side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Esnar trying to control the action but Casido is working from the bottom. Casido regains half guard. Esnar missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Esnar is pressing down on Casido's thigh, looking to free his foot. Casido is holding on for now. Casido bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Esnar's guard. Casido controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Casido trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Esnar keeping moving, preventing Casido from controlling successfully. Esnar wants to sweep here but Casido controlling him for the moment. Esnar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Casido controls the pace. That's four minutes gone in the round. Esnar wants to hit a switch here but Casido passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Esnar there! Esnar is working to get back to half guard.
Esnar manages to regain half guard. Good work. Casido throwing shots but Esnar is blocking nicely. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Casido tries to pass to full mount but Esnar defends it. Casido is looking to take a break and control but Esnar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Casido is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That was a close round but I would say that Placido Casido will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A slow jab from Casido misses its intended target. Rock Esnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Casido ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Esnar throws out a loose jab but Casido uses good head movement to avoid it. Esnar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Casido. Esnar lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Esnar lands a glancing blow to the side of Casido's head. Casido bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Esnar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Casido wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We've been informed that Esnar has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Casido trying to control the position but Esnar is working away. Esnar is trying to control Casido's posture but Casido avoids it. This has been an exciting period of action! Esnar tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Casido is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Esnar doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Casido. Casido seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Esnar has recovered full guard. Esnar trying to control the position.

Casido trying to control the position from guard on top but Esnar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Esnar keeping full guard, as Casido tries to pass. Esnar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Casido is one step ahead there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A nice leg kick lands there from Esnar. Casido has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Casido there as he acknowledges the shot. Rock Esnar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Esnar changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Esnar tries to sprawl but Casido drives through with a takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Casido wants to take a breather but Esnar is having none of it. Esnar moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Casido postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Esnar tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Casido looking to pass the guard. Casido wants to control from the top but Esnar keeps moving. Casido is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Esnar wants to sweep here but Casido controlling him for the moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Casido is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Esnar is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Esnar has escaped and now he's on top! Casido working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Esnar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Esnar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both guys are working to get underhooks. Esnar scores with a shot to the side of Casido's head. Casido is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Esnar is defending well. Casido is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Esnar gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Esnar throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Casido blocks it with crossed arms. Casido tries for a takedown but Esnar manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Placido Casido. That's going to take a lot out of him. Casido being controlled against the cage. Casido tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Esnar smiles and moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Esnar slaps away a takedown attempt from Casido, before circling back to the center of the mat. Esnar lands with an uppercut that bounces Casido off the cage and back into range. Esnar sizes up Casido with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Esnar misses with a looping left. Esnar connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Esnar misses with a body shot.
Casido uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Esnar. Casido tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Esnar paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Esnar cracks Casido with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Casido tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Esnar pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Casido is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
