PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Stalin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Doom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stalin comes to the cage accompanied by Sexy Chick. Eli Doom told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Stalin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eli Doom!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doom avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Doom fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stalin sprawls well initially but Doom persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Doom takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Doom wants to control but Stalin is keeping him busy.
Stalin is looking to improve his position.
Doom works his foot free and advances to mount.
Stalin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Doom.
Doom throwing strikes here but Stalin is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doom is working for a guillotine from mount but Stalin frees his head quite easily.
Stalin swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Poor strikes thrown by Doom there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Stalin can't escape the position.
Stalin throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Doom moves to the back position.
Stalin is trying to get back to his feet but Doom has full control of the position and if anything, Stalin has just worked his way into a worse spot.
You can see the frustration on Stalin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Doom misses with a punch to the head.
Doom is looking for a choke. Stalin gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Stalin manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Doom looks gassed!
Stalin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Stalin is looking to stand up but Doom won't let him.
Doom looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Stalin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stalin throws a big right hand that misses.
Stalin lands a couple of digs.
Stalin lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Stalin chips away with some ground and pound.
Doom throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Stalin distracts Doom with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Stalin stopping the sweep attempt from Doom.
Doom is trying to control the position but Stalin postures up.
Stalin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Doom, up you get!
Stalin drives through and clinches with Doom against the cage.
Doom is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Doom jumps guard and drags Stalin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stalin landing with the ground and pound.
Stalin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Stalin is looking to stand up but Doom won't let him.
Stalin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doom swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Doom is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stalin has his hands clasped together but Doom extends an breaks Stalin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Doom.
