Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Snow! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan Pike! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pike throws an overhand right that lands on Snow's shoulder, as Snow tries to avoid the shot. Pike looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Snow moves out of range as Pike strikes. Pike looks to throw the jab but Snow is out of range. Pike throws a front kick aimed at Snow's knee but Snow avoids it well. Pike throws a poor cross that misses
and Snow counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pike won't be happy with that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Check out the look on Snow's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Snow is working Pike over with some ground and pound from side control. Snow lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pike is not content to let Snow control the position. Pike told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Pike is working to avoid the ground and pound but Snow connects with a decent elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Snow is looking to take a break and control but Pike is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Snow looks up at the clock and then as Pike takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Snow smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Snow is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pike is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Pike seems a little lost for a moment, as Snow dominates the positioning. Snow creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Snow is chipping away with strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Snow scoring with punches and elbows. Snow is trying to get an arm triangle but Pike is defending well. Snow landing a few strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Snow is working Pike over with some ground and pound from side control. Snow cracks Pike with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Pike is rocked! Snow is working to tighten his grip on Pike's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Pike has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Snow is really squeezing tight and eventually Pike passes out! Snow breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jon Snow! Jon Snow seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
