Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jahn Blom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mouritz Opperman!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blom shoots in and bounces Opperman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Blom not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Blom trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Opperman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Blom is controlling him.
Blom content to stall in guard here.
Blom works over Opperman with some ground and pound from guard.
Blom is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Blom stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Opperman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Opperman can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blom is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Blom advances to half guard.
Blom slows the pace down in half guard.
Opperman blocking the ground and pound attempt from Blom.
Blom is taking a breather. Opperman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Blom seems to be looking for submissions.
Blom looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blom prevents Opperman from improving his position.
Still in half guard, Blom seems content to control.
Blom is thwarting Opperman's attempts to control the position.
Blom content to control rather than advance.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jahn Blom wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Blom looks for a takedown but Opperman sprawls well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Opperman scores with a one two! Blom had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Opperman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Opperman listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Opperman tries to bum rush Blom with a series of wild strikes but Blom uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Blom shoots in looking for a takedown. Opperman tries to sprawl out of it but Blom keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Opperman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Blom swats away the attempt to clinch by Opperman.
Opperman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Blom looking to score a takedown here. Opperman is defending well but Blom drives through and ends up in Opperman's guard.
Blom works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Blom moves into full mount! Opperman won't be happy about that!
Blom looking to control and managing it successfully.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Blom working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Opperman turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Blom off and cradles Opperman's limp body as Blom celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jahn Blom!
