PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Gravity (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Burns might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wanted Dead or Alive. The key to victory for Derek Burns has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gravity walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Burns checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Gravity takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Burns blocks the body kick.
Burns connects with the punch.
Burns dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Burns thumps Gravity with a low kick.
Gravity gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Burns.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Burns avoids the head kick by Gravity.
Gravity slips a jab from Burns.
Burns swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Burns takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Burns throws a lazy right hand but Gravity sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gravity tries to score with a low kick but Burns moves his leg out of the way.
Burns throws a low kick but Gravity avoids it.

Burns on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Burns swings for the body but Gravity moves out of range.
Burns attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters circle momentarily. Burns darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Gravity lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Burns scores with the left hand. Gravity knows he should have avoided that one.
Gravity throws a chopping leg kick but Burns manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Gravity throws a solid leg kick but Burns takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gravity.

Burns drops Gravity with a beautiful combination! Gravity stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Burns is looking for the KO!

Gravity is still on wobbly legs! Can Burns finish him?
Burns misses with a straight right.
Gravity throws a leg kick
and Burns counters with a stiff right hand.
Gravity throws a quick inside leg kick.

Gravity slips under a jab from Burns.
A chopping leg kick lands by Gravity.
Gravity seems to have recovered his senses.
Gravity throws a low kick but Burns moves out of range easily.
Burns checks the leg kick nicely there.
Burns lands a left and a right that send Gravity crashing to the mat, dazed. Burns thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Burns is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Burns. Gravity does a little dance to reset his feet.

Gravity avoids a punch combination nicely.
Burns throws a hook but Gravity avoids it easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gravity is looking to score with low kicks.
Burns bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Burns dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Burns throws a looping overhand right but Gravity ducks down to avoid it.

Gravity is looking to land body kicks.
Gravity throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Burns looks to land a right hand but Gravity moved out of range.
Burns just misses with a punch to the body.
Burns throws a series of punches but Gravity moves out of range.
Gravity swings away with a leg kick that misses.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Gravity in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Burns cracks Gravity with a good jab.
Burns waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gravity.
Burns drops Gravity with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Gravity looks back up at him and smiles so Burns waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burns stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gravity.
Burns feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gravity sprawling to the canvas! Gravity rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Burns finish him?!
Gravity throws a low kick, looking for Burns's leg but Burns calmly moves out of range.
Gravity lands with a kick to the temple. Burns shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Burns lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Burns fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gravity looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Burns steps in with a hook that catches Gravity right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Burns follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Gravity looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derek Burns!
