Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
38 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hector Cabrera! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 9 - 2, fighting out of London, Domingo Perez! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. A telegraphed right hand from Cabrera misses the target. Perez tries to work over Cabrera's front leg with a kick but Cabrera checks it. Cabrera tries to clinch up but Perez circles away and keeps his distance. Cabrera swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Perez. A leg kick checked by Cabrera. A low kick from Perez is predictable there enabling Cabrera to counter with a crisp jab. Cabrera throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Perez misses with a straight left. Perez will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Perez avoids the body shot from Cabrera.
Cabrera closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Perez misses with a straight right. Cabrera looks to score with a jab to the body but Perez is just out of range. Cabrera ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. A bone on bone clash there as Perez blocks the leg kick.
Cabrera connects with the punch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Perez misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cabrera's sensitive parts. Perez misses with a wild combination.
Cabrera throws a leg kick which misses Perez's front leg but catches the back leg as Perez tries to avoid it. Perez attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Perez takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. A low kick from Cabrera is predictable there so Perez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Perez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Cabrera might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cabrera tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cabrera is working hard here to advance position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cabrera is looking for a triangle but Perez pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Perez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Perez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cabrera is keeping the position for now. Cabrera looking for a guillotine here but Perez defends easily.
Cabrera is trying to control the position but Perez postures up. Cabrera looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Perez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Perez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Perez preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cabrera looking for a triangle here. Perez is fighting it but it looks tight! Cabrera pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Perez is tapping out - this one is all over!
