Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Tenorio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Bruce! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bruce throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Bruce looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Bruce misses with an uppercut. Tenorio saw that one coming. Bruce misses with a wild body shot. Bruce throws an off balance right hand
and Tenorio counters with a nice double leg into guard. Tenorio pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bruce is keeping the position for now. Bruce looking for a sweep. Not yet Bruce, not yet. Bruce keeping full guard, as Tenorio tries to pass. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Tenorio is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bruce is pulling down on Tenorio's head to control his posture. Tenorio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bruce swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bruce controls Tenorio momentarily but Tenorio frees himself.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Robert Bruce was stalling too much, according to the referee. Tenorio goes for a double leg but Bruce avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Bruce continues to drive forward. Tenorio tries to pull guard but Bruce holds him up against the ropes and eventually Tenorio drops back down to his feet.
Tenorio fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Tenorio. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bruce is trying to push Tenorio away but Tenorio has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere. Tenorio tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Tenorio tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bruce just stands there and leans against the ropes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tenorio jumps guard.
Bruce has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tenorio is proving hard to escape from. Tenorio seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Bruce controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Bruce is looking to stand up but Tenorio won't let him. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Tenorio is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bruce trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tenorio's guard. Tenorio has his feet on Bruce's thighs here. He's pushed Bruce off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Bruce screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
