The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikhasevich fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mikhasevich fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Morgoth avoids it really well and circles away.
Mikhasevich blocks the body kick.
Mikhasevich stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mikhasevich has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Morgoth tries a head kick but it misses.

Morgoth fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mikhasevich sprawls well initially but Morgoth persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mikhasevich is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Morgoth's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Morgoth's back!
Morgoth breaks Mikhasevich's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mikhasevich is looking for a triangle but Morgoth pushes his legs off easily.

Mikhasevich has his foot on Morgoth's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Morgoth works his way back into a safe position though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Morgoth got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mikhasevich has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Morgoth has managed to get both his arms back between Mikhasevich's legs - danger averted.
Morgoth seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Morgoth slips a nice elbow through Mikhasevich's hands, connecting with Mikhasevich's forehead.
Mikhasevich wants to control but Morgoth is keeping busy.
We've been hearing good reports from Morgoth's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Morgoth wants to take a breather but Mikhasevich is having none of it.
Morgoth looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mikhasevich with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Morgoth lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Mikhasevich! Morgoth sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Mikhasevich and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Slurgo Morgoth decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
