Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo Patrelli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diogo Duarte!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patrelli avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Patrelli moves out of range of the leg kick from Duarte.
Patrelli blocks a head kick by Duarte.
Duarte tries to clinch there but Patrelli circles away.
Duarte shoots in and bounces Patrelli off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Duarte really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patrelli. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Duarte avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duarte wants to get up but he can't break Patrelli's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Patrelli has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Duarte can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
My spies in Cozad MMA Las Vegas inform me that Duarte has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Duarte wants to control from the top but Patrelli keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patrelli has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Diogo Duarte has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A bone on bone clash there as Patrelli blocks the leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Duarte.
Duarte stuffs the takedown attempt from Patrelli. Patrelli gets slowly back to his feet.

Duarte wants to clinch
and Patrelli counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Patrelli is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at NEXUS GYM that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Duarte is looking for a triangle here but Patrelli uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Patrelli drives through and clinches with Duarte against the cage.

Duarte is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Patrelli pulls guard effortlessly.
Duarte loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Patrelli pushes Duarte off and scrambles back to his feet.
Patrelli fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Duarte, pushing him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Duarte.
Duarte misses with an elbow strike.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patrelli ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Patrelli no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Patrelli manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Duarte is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
BOOM! Patrelli connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Duarte fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Duarte tries to clinch up but Patrelli circles away and keeps his distance.
Duarte closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Duarte is rocked!
Patrelli rushes Duarte and presses him up against the cage.
Duarte is still on wobbly legs! Can Patrelli finish him?
Duarte tries to pull guard but Patrelli forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Patrelli jumps into guard, dragging Duarte to the mat.
Patrelli is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Patrelli lands a nice short elbow.
Patrelli slips a nice elbow through Duarte's hands, connecting with Duarte's forehead.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Patrelli in particular looking to stall.
Duarte wants to improve his position but Patrelli is controlling well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Leonardo Patrelli overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Patrelli unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Duarte wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Patrelli celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
