PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Rodinerio Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richie McCaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bravo comes to the cage accompanied by Damian Marley - Confrontation. McCaw is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Seeing Things. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Rodinerio Bravo !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richie McCaw!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bravo gets the takedown into side control.
Bravo wants to control but McCaw is keeping him busy.
McCaw is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bravo has just dragged him back down to the mat.
A lull in the action here as Bravo stalls from top position.

Bravo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McCaw knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bravo prevents McCaw from escaping the position.

Bravo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
McCaw is pushing Bravo 's head away, looking to escape. Bravo manages to hold on to the position though.

Bravo swings around for an armbar but McCaw sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bravo 's guard.
Bravo controls McCaw momentarily but McCaw frees himself.
McCaw cracks Bravo with a solid left hand.
Bravo looking for a sweep. Not yet Bravo , not yet.
McCaw postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Bravo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
McCaw working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bravo 's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCaw throws an elbow that misses. Bravo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McCaw's guard. Nice move by Bravo !
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bravo wants to control from the top but McCaw keeps moving.
Bravo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Bravo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McCaw's guard.
McCaw is trying to stand.

Bravo is working for a kimura but McCaw is defending it quite comfortably.
McCaw trying to control but Bravo postures up.
Bravo prevents McCaw from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCaw tries to kick Bravo off but Bravo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Bravo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bravo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McCaw is just riding it out for now. Bravo eventually gives up the hold.
Bravo trying to control from half guard but McCaw is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joey Rodinerio Bravo dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Bravo forces McCaw back against the cage and clinches.

McCaw breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McCaw throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
McCaw scores with the left hand. Bravo knows he should have avoided that one.


It looks like Joey Rodinerio Bravo has been cut.

Bravo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bravo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McCaw pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McCaw tries to break free but Bravo pushes him back against the cage.

McCaw breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bravo checks a leg kick.

Bravo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching McCaw on his heels. He'll look to pass McCaw's guard now, I'm sure.
Bravo trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but McCaw manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
This has been an exciting period of action!
McCaw working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bravo wants to sweep but no luck.
Bravo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bravo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCaw can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McCaw throwing strikes but missing.
McCaw with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
McCaw landing some decent shots from guard.

Bravo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCaw gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McCaw postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
McCaw throws an elbow that misses. Bravo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McCaw's guard. Nice move by Bravo !

Bravo won't allow McCaw to get back to his feet.

Bravo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McCaw is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bravo , into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bravo looking for a sweep. Not yet Bravo , not yet.
McCaw throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bravo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bravo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McCaw postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
McCaw must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bravo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCaw defends well.

Bravo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Bravo keeping moving, preventing McCaw from controlling successfully.
McCaw is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
McCaw missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Richie McCaw has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bravo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McCaw defends it easily.
McCaw scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

McCaw is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Bravo is looking for a triangle but McCaw pushes his legs off easily.
McCaw is working Bravo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Bravo has his foot on McCaw's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McCaw works his way back into a safe position though.

McCaw with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

McCaw stands up over Bravo , holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bravo has momentary wrist control but McCaw slips an elbow through the middle.


Bravo is rocked!
McCaw keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bravo 's head.
Oh Bravo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McCaw drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McCaw jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McCaw loads up on a big left hand. Bravo felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - McCaw looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Bravo can't hide his disappointment, as McCaw celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richie McCaw!
A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Richie McCaw made sure he mentioned Pirates Powder, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
In defeat, Joey Rodinerio Bravo stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'm sure he applied WD-40 to his body, so i couldn't get a hold of him!'.
