Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kazna Futzchag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georgio Socrates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Futzchag comes to the cage accompanied by Emika. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kazna Futzchag!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georgio Socrates!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Socrates has taken the fight to the clinch.
Socrates is looking for a takedown.
Futzchag is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Socrates keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Futzchag's efforts to push away.
Socrates drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Futzchag gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Socrates turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Socrates is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Futzchag knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Futzchag parries the strikes from Socrates easily there. Socrates is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Futzchag to escape.
Futzchag is trying to control Socrates's posture but Socrates avoids it.
Futzchag pushes Socrates away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Socrates gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Socrates is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Futzchag has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Futzchag is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Socrates seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Futzchag does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Futzchag is trying to maintain the position but Socrates is very close to passing his half guard.

Futzchag is looking to control Socrates's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Futzchag avoid being mounted?

Socrates is looking for a kimura but Futzchag is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Socrates to get the leverage.

Futzchag is defending against the submission attempts here by Socrates.

Futzchag is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Socrates throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Futzchag tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Socrates is in Futzchag's guard.
Futzchag knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Socrates on the ground.

Socrates tries to free his leg and advance position but Futzchag is retaining full guard.
Futzchag will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Futzchag is trying to control the position but Socrates postures up.

Socrates is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Futzchag is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Futzchag has escaped and now he's on top!

Futzchag thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Socrates's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Socrates makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Socrates lands a good knee to the midsection. Futzchag won't want to take too many of those.
Socrates's coach down at ^Tyr MMA^ - MSG FOR INVITE was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Socrates's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Socrates drops down looking for an ankle pick but Futzchag pulls his leg out and moves away.
Futzchag has been working on his balance at Demon's Elite Gym (7 Elite), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Socrates.

Kazna Futzchag has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Georgio Socrates.

Socrates feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Socrates drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Socrates jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Georgio Socrates showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kazna Futzchag.

Well Socrates has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
