PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sanouk Fairtex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Metal Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ripper is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sabaton - Metal ripper. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sanouk Fairtex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Metal Ripper!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Ripper misses

and Fairtex counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ripper won't be happy with that.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Ripper tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Fairtex easily slips into full mount!
Ripper really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Fairtex gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Ripper looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Ripper throws an off balance right hand

and Fairtex counters with a shoot takedown. Ripper fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ripper wants to sweep here but Fairtex controlling him for the moment.
Fairtex has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Fairtex wanted to stand there but Ripper had control of the position.
Ripper wants to sweep but no luck.
Fairtex is looking to stand up but Ripper won't let him.
Ripper tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Fairtex has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ripper is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sanouk Fairtex wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ripper loads up on a big right hand but Fairtex slips the punch.

Fairtex takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ripper misses with a body shot

and Fairtex counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ripper won't be happy with that.
Ripper is trying to improve his position.

Fairtex decides to stand back up. Fairtex steps back and let's Ripper get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ripper tries to get to full guard but Fairtex has control of the leg.
Fairtex tries to stand but can't do so whilst Ripper controls his leg.
Ripper wants to get back to full guard.

Fairtex tries to stand and escape but Ripper is controlling the position.
Ripper is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fairtex is thwarting Ripper's attempts to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sanouk Fairtex dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ripper looks to throw the jab but Fairtex is out of range.
Metal Ripper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ripper!

and Fairtex counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ripper's guard now.
Ripper wants to control but Fairtex passes easily into half guard.
Sanouk Fairtex overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ripper is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fairtex tries to stand and escape but Ripper is controlling the position.

Ripper tries to roll over but Fairtex keeps him under control.
Ripper is trying to control but can't.
Ripper tries to get to full guard but Fairtex has control of the leg.
Ripper gets full guard.
Ripper is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Ripper wants to improve his position but instead Fairtex has moved into half guard.
Ripper tries to roll over but Fairtex keeps him under control.

Ripper looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Fairtex pushes past his half guard into mount!

Fairtex is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Fairtex slips a jab from Ripper.
Sanouk Fairtex is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ripper tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fairtex was well out of range. Poor timing from Ripper.
Ripper throws out a loose jab but Fairtex uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ripper misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ripper misses with the combination.
Nice takedown defense from Fairtex. No joy for Ripper on that attempt.

Ripper wants to clinch up but Fairtex keeps it at a distance.
Ripper misses with an uppercut.
Ripper throws a right hand that misses

and Fairtex counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Ripper looking for submissions off his back.
Fairtex wants to stand but Ripper has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sanouk Fairtex will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Ripper throws a poor cross that misses

Ripper is looking for a sweep. Fairtex is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fairtex seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Ripper is trying to maintain the position but Fairtex is very close to passing his half guard.

Fairtex stands up and beckons Ripper to join him on the feet.
Ripper throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fairtex avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ripper throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Fairtex counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Fairtex got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ripper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fairtex has managed to get both his arms back between Ripper's legs - danger averted.
Fairtex has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ripper is proving hard to escape from.
Ripper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ripper isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Fairtex stacks Ripper on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Fairtex!

Fairtex gets to his feet. Ripper looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Ripper throws a series of punches but Fairtex moves out of range.
Ripper swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fairtex slips under a jab.
Ripper misses the shot to the body.

Ripper is looking to improve his position.
Ripper regains full guard. Nicely done.

Ripper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fairtex doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fairtex manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ripper wants to sweep but no luck.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sanouk Fairtex showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fairtex, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
