Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Syd Cutter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Weaver Zee!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zee is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cutter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Zee throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cutter sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cutter throws a head kick but Zee moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Zee is defended easily by Cutter.
Zee tests Cutter's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Zee pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Cutter closes the distance but Zee moves to the side
and Zee counters with a nice uppercut.
Cutter throws a body punch but Zee moves out of range.
Cutter throws out a leg kick but Zee moves out of range and Cutter only half commits.
Cutter will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A jab from Zee finds it's way through Cutter's defenses.
Zee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cutter's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Zee's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Cutter is rocked!
Zee postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cutter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zee, into his guard.
Oh Cutter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Our spies down at at Zombie Zoo inform us that Zee has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Cutter scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cutter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zee works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Cutter seems to have got his legs back now.
Zee keeping full guard, as Cutter tries to pass.
Zee controls Cutter momentarily but Cutter frees himself.
Zee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cutter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cutter throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Zee is looking for a triangle but Cutter pushes his legs off easily.
Zee has his foot on Cutter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cutter works his way back into a safe position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cutter postures up and lands a big shot to Zee's brow.
Cutter postures up in Zee's guard and throws a big left but Zee blocks it.
Zee is looking to cinch up a triangle. Cutter throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Zee's body to avoid the submission. Zee has instead reached around Cutter's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Zee arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Weaver Zee!
Weaver Zee seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
