Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Urho Kekkonen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tim Jacobs! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kekkonen but Kekkonen pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jacobs shoots in looking for a takedown. Kekkonen tries to sprawl out of it but Jacobs keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kekkonen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jacobs closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Jacobs seems to be working for a kimura but Kekkonen defends the submission attempt. Kekkonen is looking to improve his position.

Jacobs drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kekkonen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kekkonen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kekkonen! Kekkonen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jacobs sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Jacobs is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Kekkonen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kekkonen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jacobs keeps working. Kekkonen throwing shots but Jacobs is blocking nicely. Jacobs is not content to let Kekkonen control the position. Kekkonen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jacobs looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Jacobs looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kekkonen prevents Jacobs from improving his position. Kekkonen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jacobs keeps working.

Kekkonen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jacobs sees it coming and defends easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jacobs moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jacobs avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kekkonen preventing the sweep.

Kekkonen is looking to take a break and control but Jacobs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jacobs tries to get to full guard but Kekkonen has control of the leg. Kekkonen is keen to just control but Jacobs is a slippery customer.
We're going to have a standup here because Urho Kekkonen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Jacobs fails with the takedown and Kekkonen counters with a body kick. Jacobs's coach down at Hilo Training Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jacobs's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Urho Kekkonen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Jacobs. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Excellent takedown into side control there by Kekkonen. Jacobs tries to improve position but can't. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kekkonen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jacobs struggling a bit here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Urho Kekkonen will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Jacobs fails to land the takedown. A momentary lapse in concentration from Kekkonen enables Jacobs to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kekkonen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Kekkonen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jacobs slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Kekkonen is looking to reverse the position. Urho Kekkonen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jacobs is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kekkonen has escaped the position, nice work there. Jacobs goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kekkonen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jacobs but great work by Kekkonen. Jacobs is trying to get back to half guard.

Kekkonen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kekkonen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kekkonen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Kekkonen won't allow Jacobs to sweep him here. Jacobs is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Kekkonen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jacobs's head. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Kekkonen rolls with it to try and escape but Jacobs cranks on the arm and Kekkonen is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
