The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abaddon avoids the body shot from Turner.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Turner has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Abaddon fails in his attempt to clinch. Nice jab there from Abaddon.
It looks like Steve Turner has been cut. Turner moves away from the strike by Abaddon. Turner is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Abaddon's half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Turner is stalling here. Abaddon is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Turner seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Abaddon has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turner can do anything to dispel that myth. Turner sneaks back into half guard. Turner is looking for a sweep. Abaddon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turner keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Turner is trying to get back to full guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Beelzebub Abaddon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Abaddon scores with a hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turner takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Turner takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Turner is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Turner shoots in for a takedown but Abaddon shows good takedown defense. Abaddon blocks the body kick.
Abaddon scores with a punch to the head. Abaddon drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Turner right on the button. Turner goes down! Abaddon follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Abaddon gets the win via TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Beelzebub Abaddon! Beelzebub Abaddon retains his welterweight title!
