Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Speed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koa Polunu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koa Polunu has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rufus Speed's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Rufus Speed! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Koa Polunu! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Speed throws a solid leg kick but Polunu takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Speed. Speed throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A shot to the liver by Speed. Beautiful body shot. Speed throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Polunu. Polunu throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Polunu fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Speed has been working on his boxing with his coaches at THC playhouse in the buildup to the fight. Speed throws a body punch but Polunu moves out of range. Nice body kick from Speed. Speed just misses with a punch to the body.
Polunu has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Polunu swings widly with a right hand
and Speed counters with a takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Polunu wants to control but Speed postures up. Polunu is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Speed misses with the ground and pound. Polunu tries to bench press Speed off him but Speed keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Polunu is not content to let Speed control the position. Speed is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Polunu looks calm but he's in trouble here. Speed gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Polunu is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Speed lets go of the hold and Polunu can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rufus Speed! Our winner, Rufus Speed, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
