The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Awn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Townsend. Awn misses with a jab, cross combination.
Awn tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Townsend closes the distance but Awn moves to the side and Awn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Townsend manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Awn manages to get himself to full guard.
Awn is trying to control the position but Townsend postures up. Townsend pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Awn is keeping the position for now. Awn thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Townsend gets to his feet - Awn follows without any prompting. Awn tries to clinch but Townsend is having none of it. Awn shoots in for a double leg but Townsend sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Townsend throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Awn fails with the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Townsend scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Tai Won Awn has been cut. Devin Townsend seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Awn fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Devin Townsend has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tai Won Awn. Nice sprawl there from Townsend as Awn shoots in. Townsend tries to clinch but Awn moves away and Awn counters with a takedown into side control. Awn looks gassed! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Awn controls the position. Awn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Townsend, who protects the arm well. Townsend is looking for a sweep. Awn working away. Townsend manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Townsend is trying to stand.
Awn with the ground and pound but Townsend uses the opportunity to regain guard. Awn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Townsend is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Awn not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Awn stops Townsend from standing up. Awn looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Townsend is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Townsend thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Townsend wants to control but Awn is keeping him busy. Awn trying to control here.
Awn might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Townsend kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Townsend wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Awn uses the opportunity to regain full guard. Awn has his hands on Townsend's head, controlling the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Townsend accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Townsend has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Awn is proving hard to escape from.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Awn looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Townsend!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Awn looking to control but Townsend is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Awn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Townsend is desperately trying to improve his position but Awn has a good base and remains in mount. Awn tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Townsend is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tai Won Awn dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tai Won Awn's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Awn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Awn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Awn wants to control from the top but Townsend keeps moving. Townsend escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Awn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Awn stops Townsend from standing up. Townsend looking to hit a scissor sweep but Awn is one step ahead there. Awn works over Townsend with some ground and pound from guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Townsend has momentary wrist control but Awn slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Townsend trying to control the position.
Awn trying to control the position from guard on top but Townsend is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Awn lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Townsend backs up against the cage.
It looks like Devin Townsend has been cut. Awn circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Townsend drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Awn follows Townsend to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
