Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Captain Beefheart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bayden Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Wood's choice of entrance music: 1 hitta quitta 3 6 mafia. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Captain Beefheart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bayden Wood!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood throws a series of punches but Beefheart avoids them all with ease.
Beefheart blocks a head kick by Wood.
Wood misses with a combination
and Beefheart counters with a left to the body.
Wood misses with a two punch combination.
Wood looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Beefheart uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wood.
Wood throws a right and a left that both miss.
Beefheart checks a leg kick nicely.
Beefheart cracks a nice hook into Wood's ribs.
Beefheart throws a quick inside leg kick.
Beefheart connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Wood tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Wood thows a leg kick but Beefheart checks it
and Beefheart counters with a right hand to the body.
Beefheart misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wood misses with a few strikes there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wood misses the body punch

and Beefheart counters by clinching up.
Beefheart blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Beefheart tries to land knees in the clinch but Wood avoids the damage to the body.
Beefheart lands a damaging elbow.


It looks like Bayden Wood has been cut.
Wood tries to throw a body punch but Beefheart avoids it by throwing Wood back against the cage.
Beefheart scores with a shoulder strike.
Beefheart slowing the pace effectively.
Beefheart is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Wood is defending well for now.
Wood on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Beefheart creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Wood's defenses.

Wood's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Beefheart fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wood.
Wood swinging wildly here.
Beefheart scores with a nice body kick.

Wood getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wood throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wood swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Beefheart counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Wood lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Beefheart goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Wood blocks a head kick by Beefheart.
Beefheart connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Wood momentarily.
Nice straight punches there by Beefheart. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Beefheart.
Wood falls off balance throwing a combination
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Beefheart gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Beefheart misses with a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Beefheart closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wood tries to work over Beefheart's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Beefheart lands a nice uppercut.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Beefheart.
Beefheart comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Beefheart gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Beefheart looking to throw knees to the head but Wood is blocking nicely.
Beefheart with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Beefheart lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Wood.
Wood is trying to break the clinch but Beefheart is controlling him.
Wood digs a right hand into Beefheart's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Beefheart's gas tank.
Wood is trying to break free.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beefheart scores with a shoulder strike.


Wood is rocked!
Wood gets through Beefheart's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Wood is still on wobbly legs! Can Beefheart finish him?
Beefheart has Wood pressed against the cage. He pushes Wood back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Beefheart throws a beautiful elbow that sends Wood crashing to the floor! Beefheart piles on the pressure with more strikes! Wood is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Captain Beefheart!
