The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magomed stuffs the takedown attempt from Sparrow. Sparrow gets slowly back to his feet.
Magomed feints and as Sparrow raises his hands in defense, Magomed changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Magomed postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Magomed throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sparrow wants to stand up but Magomed is controlling him.

Magomed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sparrow can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Magomed controls the pace.
We're going to have a standup here because Dragan Magomed wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Magomed has his takedown stuffed
letting Sparrow counter with a right hand.

and Magomed counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Sparrow fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Magomed avoids it really well and circles away.
Magomed connects with a solid leg kick.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Magomed shoots in looking for a takedown. Sparrow tries to sprawl out of it but Magomed keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sparrow manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sparrow chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Magomed can pounce on him.
Sparrow takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Magomed shoots in for a takedown but Sparrow shows good takedown defense.
Magomed scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Magomed connects with a leg kick. Sparrow looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Magomed shoots in but no luck this time.
Sparrow defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Magomed.
Sparrow shoots and misses
and Magomed counters with a left and a right that stings Sparrow.
Magomed shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sparrow sprawls well. Sparrow wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Magomed gets slowly back to his feet.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sparrow wants to get back to striking at distance but Magomed won't allow it.
Sparrow has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Magomed after a bit of a struggle.

Sparrow drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Magomed jumps into guard, dragging Sparrow to the mat.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Magomed has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sparrow doesn't defend quickly enough and Magomed has managed to lock this one up! Can Sparrow escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Magomed on a fantastic submission victory.
