PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Piltz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Slader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Piltz comes into the arena with Don't Stop Me Now blaring out of the sound system. Slader has chosen Pantera - Walk as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Randy Slader is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Piltz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Slader!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slader scores with a jab to the body.
Piltz keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Slader.
Slader misses with a body kick.
Piltz throws a right hand that Slader ducks under and follows up with a left that Slader also avoids with ease.
Slader takes one to the chin there.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Piltz, right into the meat.
Slader takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Slader wants to land a leg kick but Piltz is out of range.
Piltz throws a right and a left that Slader avoids nicely.
Piltz connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Piltz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Slader.
Slader scores with a shot to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Piltz slips a jab and a cross from Slader.
Piltz will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Piltz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Piltz drives through with a takedown into guard.
Piltz throwing strikes but missing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Slader looking for a guillotine here but Piltz defends easily.
Piltz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Slader is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Piltz chips away with some ground and pound.

Piltz has gone for a leg lock! Slader slips out almost immediately though and dives into Piltz's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Piltz has his foot on Slader's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Slader works his way back into a safe position though.
Piltz wants to sweep here but Slader controlling him for the moment.

Piltz throws his legs up looking for a submission but Slader uses it to pass to side control.
Piltz is trying to improve his position.
Piltz is working hard here to advance position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slader gets to mount! Piltz was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Piltz tries to improve his position but instead Slader has taken his back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Piltz's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Slader has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Piltz's body.

Slader stands up.
Randy Slader seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Piltz avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Slader misses with a body kick.
Slader tries a low kick but Piltz avoids it.
Some wild striking there from Piltz.
Piltz misses with a series of wild punches.
Slader misses with a body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Piltz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slader circles away quickly and effectively.
Slader lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Piltz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slader's waist but Slader gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Piltz off to one side.
Slader will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Piltz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Slader napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Slader prevents Piltz from moving into mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slader manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Slader tries to roll over but Piltz keeps him under control.
Piltz wants to control but Slader is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Piltz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Piltz looks to land a strike but Slader avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Slader has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Piltz should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Slader has tightened it up now! Piltz should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Randy Slader!
In his post fight interview, Randy Slader started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Mark Piltz spoke after the fight, saying 'It's a hard lot of fighters out here in Steel Penn. I'll be back in a ring soon enough.'.
