Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor Trauger!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Trauger closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Trauger circles away.

Trauger closes the distance and clinches.
Trauger avoiding damage as Smith throws knees to the body.
Trauger jumps guard but Smith stands there with Trauger around his waist. Trauger gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Trauger looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Trauger is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Trauger fails to pull guard.
Paul Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Connor Trauger.

Trauger keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smith's efforts to push away.

Trauger jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Smith walks away with a smile on his face. Trauger gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Trauger is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Smith wants to get up but he can't break Trauger's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Trauger might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Smith haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Trauger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith is looking to stand up but Trauger won't let him.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Trauger on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Trauger throws a knee to the head but misses.
Smith's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Trauger tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.

Smith tries to stand and escape but Trauger is controlling the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith gets underhooks to prevent Trauger's takedown attempt.
Trauger is breathing heavily.
Trauger tries to stall but Smith uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Smith dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Trauger looks for a takedown but Smith sprawls well.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Trauger circles away.
Trauger shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.

Connor Trauger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Trauger looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Trauger takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Trauger dodges the punch combination from Smith.
Smith tries to clinch but Trauger is having none of it.
Trauger throws a left and a right that both miss

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Trauger won't be happy with that.
Trauger is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Smith wants to control but Trauger is keeping him busy.
Trauger takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Smith wants to stand but Trauger is controlling his arm.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Trauger's shoulder. That is not cool.
Smith works to advance to full mount. Trauger defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Trauger really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Smith connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Trauger wants to hold on but Smith pushes him away.

Smith goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Trauger turns into him and now he's in Smith's guard.

Smith is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Trauger fails to land the takedown.
Paul Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Connor Trauger.

Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Trauger wants to control but Smith is having none of it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
