And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McFinney shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith tries for a takedown but McFinney sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Smith darts in and clinches McFinney up against the cage.

Smith successfully pulls guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
McFinney wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Smith working for a triangle but McFinney defends it easily.
McFinney slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McFinney!
Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Smith is trying to drag McFinney to the mat but McFinney just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
McFinney is working for takedown but Smith is calmly controlling the position for now.
McFinney misses with a hook from the clinch.
McFinney is looking to break free of the clinch but Smith has double underhooks.
McFinney wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
McFinney is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Smith is defending well.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
McFinney tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

McFinney dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on McFinney's head and hops out.
McFinney darts in looking for a takedown but Smith gets double underhooks and turns McFinney into the cage.

Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but McFinney sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Smith is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
McFinney wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

McFinney changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McFinney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McFinney off to one side.
Gabe McFinney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Smith rushes McFinney and presses him up against the cage.

I would just about give that final round to John Smith.
Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
