Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Gunns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Van De Velde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robert Van De Velde will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunns drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Van De Velde is wriggling around but Gunns manages to pass to half guard.
Van De Velde wants to get back to his feet.
Gunns controlling the pace.
Gunns is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sam Gunns wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Van De Velde is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Van De Velde counters with a head kick that drops Gunns to the mat! Gunns scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Gunns is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Van De Velde forces Gunns back against the cage and clinches.
Oh Gunns is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gunns throws an elbow that misses.
Gunns seems to have got his legs back now.
Gunns wants a takedown but no success here.
Gunns wants to get back to striking at distance but Van De Velde won't allow it.
Van De Velde tries to break free but Gunns pushes him back against the cage.
Gunns tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Van De Velde just stands there and leans against the cage.

Van De Velde decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gunns, up you get!

Van De Velde tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gunns swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Van De Velde has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Gunns misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

It looks like Sam Gunns has been cut.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gunns is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Van De Velde is defending well for now.
Gunns goes for a takedown in the clinch but Van De Velde prevents it.

Gunns closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Van De Velde quickly recovers to half guard.

Gunns is looking for a kimura but Van De Velde is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gunns to get the leverage.

Van De Velde makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Van De Velde throws a head kick but Gunns moves out of range.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gunns shoots in for a takedown but Van De Velde shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Gunns closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gunns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van De Velde swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gunns gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Gunns tries to score a power double leg takedown but Van De Velde sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gunns somewhat.

Gunns darts in trying to clinch
and Van De Velde counters with a straight right hand.
Gunns shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Van De Velde but Van De Velde pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sam Gunns.
