Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Baskas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Quita Ioptoa! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ioptoa throws a right and a left that Baskas avoids nicely. Ioptoa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ioptoa throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Baskas doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ioptoa counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Baskas is lucky that one didn't land flush. Ioptoa slaps away a takedown attempt from Baskas, before circling back to the center of the mat. Ioptoa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Baskas throws out the jab. Baskas takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
This has been an exciting period of action! Ioptoa misses with a double jab.
Baskas has been working on his balance at MMA Power gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Ioptoa. A bone on bone clash there as Baskas blocks the leg kick.
Baskas forces Ioptoa back against the cage and clinches. Baskas is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Ioptoa has Baskas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ioptoa pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Baskas tumbling to the mat - Ioptoa dives into Baskas's guard. Ioptoa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baskas tries to land a sweep but no joy. Baskas throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ioptoa uses it to pass to side control.
Baskas tries to buck Ioptoa off but Ioptoa is having none of it. Baskas manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ioptoa's best efforts. Baskas wants to control but Ioptoa is keeping busy.
Baskas slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Baskas is trying to keep Ioptoa in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ioptoa tries to free his leg and advance position but Baskas is retaining full guard. Baskas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ioptoa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Baskas wants to sweep here but Ioptoa controlling him for the moment. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Baskas is trying to keep Ioptoa in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quita Ioptoa dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Ioptoa throws a leg kick but Baskas sees it coming and checks it nicely. Baskas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ioptoa but Ioptoa pushes him off and we're back to square one. Baskas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ioptoa counters with a series of strikes. Baskas will be more careful next time no doubt. Baskas doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ioptoa counters with a nice leg kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Baskas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Baskas avoids the head kick by Ioptoa.
Quita Ioptoa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Baskas is looking to clinch. Baskas with a lazy takedown attempt and Ioptoa counters with a big head kick but Baskas shrugs it off. Ioptoa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ioptoa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. A clash of legs there as Baskas blocks the low kick. Baskas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ioptoa defends it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baskas fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Baskas misses with a takedown attempt - Ioptoa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Baskas takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Baskas is rocked! Baskas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ioptoa counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Baskas to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Ioptoa!
