Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kev Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smiths (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kev Hawkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Smiths!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smiths shoots in for a double leg but Hawkins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Smiths tries to score a body lock takedown but Hawkins shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Horrible takedown by Smiths or perhaps it was just good defense by Hawkins which made him look bad.

Smiths tries to clinch but Hawkins moves out of range.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Hawkins here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

and Hawkins counters with a nice right hand that sends Smiths toppling to the canvas! Smiths scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Hawkins finish him?!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smiths dives in and grabs Hawkins's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hawkins pushes down on Smiths's head and hops out.

and Hawkins counters with a nice low kick that buckles Smiths's knee momentarily.

and Hawkins counters with a good low kick that Smiths was not able to check.
