With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Smith!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith rushes Woods and presses him up against the cage.

Woods jumps guard but Smith stands there with Woods around his waist. Woods gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Woods is trying to force a seperation but Smith has the dominant position.
A left hand lands to the body for Smith.
Woods trying to stall but Smith improves his position.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Woods has his takedown stuffed

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown. Woods fights it but they end up in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Smith throws a big right hand that misses.
Woods really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smith wanted to stand there but Woods had control of the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Woods is proving hard to escape from.
Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Paul Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Smith seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Smith lands a couple of good shots and Woods has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Woods is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Paul Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Smith controlling from the back.
Smith's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Paul Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Smith was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Smith drives through with a takedown into Woods's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
