Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksandr Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Puntti Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Karelin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Puntti Pena! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karelin takes a shot to the body in his stride.

and Karelin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pena's guard now. Karelin connects with a couple of short punches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! Karelin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Karelin forces his way into half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Karelin trying to mount his opponent but Pena defends it. Aleksandr Karelin dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Karelin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pena was covering up waiting for the punch and Karelin finishes the takedown easily into guard. Karelin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pena's head. Karelin scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Karelin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Karelin controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Karelin passes easily into side control. Nice work. Aleksandr Karelin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It looks like Puntti Pena has been cut. Karelin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Karelin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pena keeps working. Pena taking punishment in the form of punches.

Karelin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pena has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Karelin but great work by Pena. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Karelin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Karelin works his way to full guard. Good work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Karelin throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Pena throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Karelin. Aleksandr Karelin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Karelin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pena.

Pena digs a good body shot into Karelin's ribs. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pena's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Pena duly obliges.

and Pena makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pena misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Karelin doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Karelin walks into a straight right hand from Pena. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pena stuffs the takedown attempt from Karelin. Karelin gets slowly back to his feet. Pena drops Karelin with a beautiful combination! Karelin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Pena is looking for the KO!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Karelin shoots in for a takedown but Pena shows good takedown defense. A jab lands there for Pena. Oh Karelin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Karelin tries to clinch but Pena is having none of it. Karelin is looking to clinch but Pena is avoiding it.
Karelin seems to have got his legs back now. Pena misses with the combination.
Karelin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pena defends well and Karelin ends up having to push Pena into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aleksandr Karelin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Karelin takes a shot to the head. Pena is pressed up against the cage. Karelin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pena down to the mat. Pena avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Pena drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Karelin right on the button. Karelin goes down! Pena follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Pena gets the win via TKO!
