Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dakota Weston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Materson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dakota Weston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Materson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weston fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Materson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Weston sprawls well initially but Materson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Materson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Materson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Materson throws a strike but Weston avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Weston utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Weston is looking to stand up but Materson isn't so interested in that idea. Materson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weston works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Materson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Materson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Weston keeping moving, preventing Materson from controlling successfully. Weston utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Materson throws an elbow that misses. Weston uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Materson's guard. Nice move by Weston! Weston wanted to stand there but Materson had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Weston in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Materson wants to stand but Weston is controlling the position. Weston tries to free his leg and advance position but Materson is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Weston stands up from Materson's guard - Weston perhaps looking for a knockout. Dakota Weston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Materson checks the leg kick. Materson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Materson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Materson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Materson looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Weston is avoiding damage well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Materson throwing shots but missing, from side control. Materson prevents Weston from escaping the position. Weston is positioning himself to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Materson has got the better of the ground game so far. Materson looking to sit in guard and control but Weston gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Weston gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Materson feints and as Weston raises his hands in defense, Materson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mike Materson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Weston keeping moving, preventing Materson from controlling successfully. Weston wants to stand but Materson is controlling the position. Materson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Weston trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Mike Materson. I've got Materson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
