The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pong throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Valo's head.
Valo tries to clinch up.
Valo misses with a leg kick.

Valo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Valo lands in his opponent's guard.
Pong controls Valo momentarily but Valo frees himself.
Valo forces his way into half guard.
Valo with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Pong tries to roll over but Valo keeps him under control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Veltto Valo wasn't active enough on the ground.
Pong misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Valo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pong swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Valo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Pong trying to keep a closed guard but Valo is proving a slippery customer.
Valo engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Valo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pong, up you get!
Valo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pong to score with a decent uppercut.
Valo shoots in but Pong avoids the takedown attempt easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pong throws a series of punches but Valo moves out of range.
Pong connects with a jab.
Pong swings for the body but Valo moves out of range.
Pong catches Valo with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Pong is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Pong lunges at Valo with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Valo's hand.
Valo shoots in but Pong avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Valo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Pong!

Valo takes a little break here. Pong wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Pong on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pong tries to get out of the position.
Valo has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Pong can't escape the position.
Valo lands a couple of good shots and Pong has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Oooh a big shot gets through from Valo. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Pong rolls, trying to escape but Valo keeps control of the position.
Pong is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Valo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
