Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JT Pennington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joseph Quinn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, JT Pennington! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinn closes the distance but Pennington moves to the side and Pennington decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Quinn's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Pennington's corner is telling him to maintain position. Quinn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Pennington throws a big right hand that misses. Pennington is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Pennington is pushing down on Quinn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Quinn is fighting to maintain full guard but Pennington has managed to sneak the leg through. Pennington lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pennington is looking for a kimura but Quinn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pennington to get the leverage. Pennington is working for a submission of some sort.
Pennington wants to pass to mount but Quinn is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pennington works his way into side control. Pennington is staying tight to Quinn's torso, preventing him from escaping. Quinn is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pennington asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pennington stands up. Pennington misses with a series of wild punches.
Joseph Quinn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pennington darts in and clinches Quinn up against the cage. Pennington tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pennington's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Quinn tries to clinch up but Pennington circles away and keeps his distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pennington feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Pennington postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Pennington throws a big right hand that misses. Pennington pushing down on Quinn's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Pennington wants to work for an arm triangle but Quinn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Quinn is breathing heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pennington is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Quinn defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
JT Pennington dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Pennington lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pennington. Quinn tries a head kick but it misses.
Quinn instigates a clinch. Pennington blocks an uppercut.
Pennington wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Quinn stops a takedown attempt from Pennington.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Quinn. Pennington drags the fight down to the ground.
Quinn is looking to stand up but Pennington won't let him. Pennington is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pennington is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Quinn frees his head nicely. Oh but Pennington has switched to an armbar! Quinn is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
