Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Money Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell Davis struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Mitchell Davis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Man swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A combination from Man does no damage.
Man blocks the body kick.
Davis tries to clinch but Man moves out of range.
Davis wants to clinch.
Man thows a body shot but no joy.

Man closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Davis's guard.
Man stays in close to Davis's body and controls the position.
Man has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Man lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Man pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now.
Man seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Money Man wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Davis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Man moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Man manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Davis on his heels. He'll look to pass Davis's guard now, I'm sure.
Man controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've been hearing good reports from Man's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Davis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Man works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Man is taking a breather. Davis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Man seems to be looking for submissions.

I really don't envy Davis right now.

Davis felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Man throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Davis!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Man looks for a takedown but Davis sprawls well.
Davis fails with the takedown.
Man takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Davis throws a sloppy head kick and Man moves out of range easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Davis enables Man to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Davis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Man is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Money Man just wasn't active enough.

A lull in the action here.
Davis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Man seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Davis for as long as he can get away with.

Davis wants to control but Man postures up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Man just content to control the position.
Man is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Davis can do to turn this around?

Davis throws a right hand that Man ducks under and follows up with a left that Man also avoids with ease.
The fight stays on the outside here - Davis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Man remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Davis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Man connects with a decent elbow.
Money Man overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Man moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Mitchell Davis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Man's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Money Man is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Money Man.

Davis gets caught flat footed, as Man shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
