Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Christopher Walken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenji Kitano! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walken will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Walken misses with a series of wild punches.
Walken throws a right and a left that Kitano avoids nicely. Kitano avoids a punch combination nicely.
A punch combination from Walken misses. Walken throws a right and a left that Kitano avoids nicely. Walken swats away the attempt to clinch by Kitano. Kitano moves in looking to clinch but Walken pushes him off. Walken connects with a right hand. Kitano shakes it off. Kitano wants to clinch. Christopher Walken seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No joy there for Walken, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Walken throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kitano counters with a left and a right that stings Walken. Walken throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kitano. Kitano tries to close the distance and clinch but Walken swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walken swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Walken definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kitano will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kitano takes a swing at Walken's ribcage but misses. Walken scores with a decent looking hook. Walken slips a jab from Kitano. Walken scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Kitano throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kitano throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Walken throws a series of punches but Kitano moves out of range. Some wild striking there from Walken.
Walken throws a right hand that Kitano ducks under and follows up with a left that Kitano also avoids with ease. Kitano tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Walken paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kitano misses with an uppercut. Walken saw that one coming. Kitano cracks a nice hook into Walken's ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kitano closes the distance and clinches. Kitano misses with the head strike.
Kitano lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Kitano told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Kitano fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kitano lands with a right to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Kitano misses with the head strike.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kitano. Kitano lands a shoulder strike. Kitano cracks Walken with a nice body shot. Walken takes a shot to the head. A head punch on the inside from Kitano fails to land. Walken blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Walken is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kitano pulls him back up using the underhooks. Kitano lands an elbow that stopped Walken in his tracks for a moment.
It looks like Christopher Walken has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kitano works on Walken's body with a couple of short punches. Walken is breathing heavily. A right hook to the body lands for Kitano.
Kitano lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Walken backwards. Kitano misses with a hook from the clinch. With the fighters up against the cage, Kitano throws an elbow but misses. Kitano pushes Walken back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Kitano lands an uppercut. Kitano swings away with an uppercut that misses.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kitano creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Nice elbow from Kitano. Kitano working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Kitano lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Kitano lands a nice elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kitano misses with a short punch on the inside. A short right from Kitano on the inside. Walken wants to break the clinch but can't.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Walken blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kitano lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Kitano scores with a shot to the side of Walken's head. A short right hand to the side of the head by Kitano.
Walken is rocked!
Christopher Walken's cut is getting worse. Walken blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Oh Walken is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Still in the clinch, Kitano scores with a nice short uppercut. Kitano gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kitano misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kitano lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Kitano pulls back and lands a big elbow that stuns Walken! Kitano unloads with more strikes and Walken sinks to his knees! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenji Kitano! Kenji Kitano seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
