Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Olegerio Rodriguez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robbie Rockin! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodriguez gets a clinch. Rockin misses with some punches.
Rockin wants to get back to striking at distance but Rodriguez won't allow it.
Rodriguez connects with a nasty looking knee right to Rockin's face.
It looks like Robbie Rockin has been cut. Rodriguez slowing the pace effectively. I was talking to Rodriguez's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Rodriguez blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rodriguez will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Rockin up against the cage. Rodriguez blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rockin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Rockin is trying to break the clinch but Rodriguez is controlling him. Rodriguez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rodriguez takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Rockin is looking to slow Rodriguez down with leg kicks. Rockin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rockin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rodriguez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Rodriguez checks a leg kick. Rodriguez is looking to clinch. Rodriguez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rockin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rodriguez fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Rockin slips under a jab. Rockin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
It looks like Olegerio Rodriguez has been cut. Rodriguez avoids the head kick by Rockin.
Rockin thows a left - swing and a miss! Rockin throws a front kick that sends Rodriguez stumbling back into the cage. Rockin tries a head kick but it misses.
Rodriguez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Rockin stuns Rodriguez with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Rodriguez tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Rodriguez dives in for a single leg takedown but Rockin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Rockin fails to land. Rockin wants to break the clinch but can't.
Rodriguez pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rockin fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rockin takes a knee to the side of the body. Rockin throws a punch but it's blocked by Rodriguez. Rodriguez blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Rockin is looking to break free of the clinch but Rodriguez has double underhooks. Rockin lands a hook to the side of the head. Rockin tries to break free but Rodriguez pushes him back against the cage. Rockin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rodriguez throws a nice looking combination but Rockin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Rockin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Rockin throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Rodriguez lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Rodriguez throws a leg kick which misses Rockin's front leg but catches the back leg as Rockin tries to avoid it. Rodriguez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rockin swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rodriguez is looking to clinch but Rockin is avoiding it.
Rockin scores with a nice head shot. Robbie Rockin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rockin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rodriguez circles away quickly and effectively. Rockin needs to keep his hands up - Rodriguez had a free shot at his head there. Rodriguez scores with a jab. Rockin misses with a head kick.
Rodriguez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rodriguez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rockin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Rockin moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. A thudding body kick lands there by Rockin!
Rockin stuffs the takedown attempt from Rodriguez. Rodriguez gets slowly back to his feet. Rockin throws a head kick that misses. Rodriguez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rockin punishes Rodriguez's body with a nice straight punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No luck for Rodriguez with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Olegerio Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rockin lands a brutal head kick. Rodriguez looks out on his feet and Rockin throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Robbie Rockin! After winning the bout, Robbie Rockin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
