Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alpo Wednesday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Trik Turner - Friends and Family kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Freddy Alves told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Alves!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wednesday tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alves was well out of range. Poor timing from Wednesday.
Alves falls off balance throwing a combination
and Wednesday counters with a three punch combo that has Alves backing up. Alves nods at Wednesday to acknowledge the strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wednesday. Alves does a little dance to reset his feet.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alves has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
