PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randall Greet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rose Floyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Randall Greet has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Randall Greet seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randall Greet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rose Floyd!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greet fails to land with a series of punches.
Floyd blocks a head kick by Greet.
Greet shoots for a double leg takedown but Floyd sprawls well. He's pushed Greet's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Greet lands a head kick!
Greet misses with a head kick.

Floyd closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Greet did well to prevent Floyd getting side control.
Floyd is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Floyd is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Greet to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Greet shrugs it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Floyd is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Greet has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Greet gets back to half guard.
Greet wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Floyd in particular looking to stall.
Greet tries to kick Floyd off but Floyd keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, if Floyd is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rose Floyd wasn't active enough on the ground.
Floyd avoids a punch combination nicely.

Greet shoots in looking for a takedown but Floyd manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Greet's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Greet drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Floyd is trying to control Greet's posture but Greet avoids it.
Floyd tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Greet wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Floyd is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Greet off and has taken his back!
Floyd is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Greet controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Floyd is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Floyd is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Greet is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
Greet misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Greet tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Floyd paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Floyd is trying to pull guard but Greet turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Greet breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Greet misses with a few strikes there.
Greet swinging wildly here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rose Floyd dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Greet throws a series of punches but Floyd avoids them all with ease.
Floyd tries to clinch up.

Greet instigates a clinch.
Floyd is looking to break free of the clinch but Greet has double underhooks.
Greet tries to break free but Floyd pushes him back against the cage.

Floyd pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Greet misses with a double jab.

so Floyd counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Floyd stops Greet from standing up.
Greet on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Greet tries to get out of the position.
Floyd wants to control from the top but Greet keeps moving.
Greet wants to stand up but Floyd is controlling him.

Floyd decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Greet, up you get!
Randall Greet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

No luck for Floyd with that takedown attempt.
Greet lands a two punch combo.
Floyd moves out of range of the body kick.
Floyd wants to clinch.
Greet pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Floyd back to the cage. Greet follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Greet throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Floyd tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Greet is in Floyd's guard.
Floyd manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Floyd looking to control but Greet is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Greet wants to try and get back to his feet.

Floyd is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Greet is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Floyd is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Greet can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Floyd trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Greet is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Greet has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Greet is trying to get back to his feet but Floyd has full control of the position and if anything, Greet has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Rose Floyd has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Greet is having to fend off submission attempts from Floyd, who is looking to sink in the choke. Floyd doesn't have the hooks in though and Greet manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Floyd is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Greet is aware though and is defending well.

Greet working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Greet postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Greet throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Floyd works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Floyd is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Greet defends well.
Floyd has momentary wrist control but Greet slips an elbow through the middle.

Greet throwing strikes from guard but Floyd blocks nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Floyd is striking off his back. Greet thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Randall Greet will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Greet stuffs the takedown.
Greet looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Greet looks to land a combination but Floyd avoids it well.

Greet will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Greet lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Floyd fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Greet avoids it really well and circles away.

Greet throws a head kick but Floyd moves out of range.
Greet pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Greet defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Floyd.
Randall Greet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rose Floyd.

Greet throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Greet throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Greet is trying hard to land a takedown here. Floyd sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Floyd shoots in for a takedown but Greet shows good takedown defense.
Greet feints a jab promting Floyd to slip. Greet then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Floyd slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Randall Greet is winning the standup battle so far.
Greet looks to land a combination. Floyd sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Floyd is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Greet throws a head kick that half lands.
Greet's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Greet duly obliges.
Sloppy strikes from Greet. Those never looked like landing.
Floyd slips a jab and a cross from Greet.
Randall Greet is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Greet shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Floyd as he jumps to the side.

Floyd shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Floyd showed some decent athleticism there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Greet pushes Floyd off but Floyd dives into side control.
Floyd controls the position.
Greet tries to escape but Floyd is in control.
Floyd advances to mount.
Greet is trying to stand up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Randall Greet.
I think Greet has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
