Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Te Rauparaha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Frontalik Wilder! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilder looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rauparaha is fending him off so far but Wilder persists. Nope, Rauparaha circles away and we're back to standing. Wilder fails to land the takedown. Wilder shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rauparaha counters with a flying knee. Nice. Te Rauparaha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frontalik Wilder. Wilder shoots and misses and Rauparaha counters with a left and a right that stings Wilder. Wilder takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Wilder looks winded! Wilder takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rauparaha jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice body kick from Rauparaha. Rauparaha punishes Wilder's body with a nice straight punch. That kick from Rauparaha tenderised Wilder's leg. Wilder is trying to keep his angry face on. Rauparaha lands a nice looking kick to the body. Wilder takes a step back to recover. Rauparaha connects with a body shot that sends Wilder's belly button to the back. We've been told by Rauparaha's head coaches at Sydney Elite Systems that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Rauparaha connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wilder's hands. Rauparaha scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rauparaha punishes Wilder's body with a nice straight punch. Rauparaha cracks a nice hook into Wilder's ribs. Rauparaha scores with a head kick.
It looks like Frontalik Wilder has been cut. Rauparaha keeps Wilder at a distance using the push kick. Rauparaha connects with a leg kick. Wilder looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Wilder is trying desperately to land a takedown but Rauparaha is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Wilder. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rauparaha lands a high kick!
Wilder is rocked! Te Rauparaha is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. That kick from Rauparaha tenderised Wilder's leg. Wilder is trying to keep his angry face on. Wilder misses with a takedown attempt and Rauparaha counters with a slapping leg kick. Rauparaha scores with a head kick. Wilder tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Rauparaha with a hook. Wilder is still on wobbly legs! Can Rauparaha finish him? Wilder doesn't succeed with the takedown and Rauparaha counters with a slapping leg kick. Rauparaha feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Wilders jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wilder has a takedown stuffed. Wilder seems to have recovered his senses. Wilder looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Rauparaha throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Rauparaha ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Rauparaha thumps Wilder with a low kick. Rauparaha throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Rauparaha lands with a kick to the ribs.
Rauparaha's corner calls for a 1-2. Rauparaha obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Rauparaha has Wilder up against the cage in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rauparaha lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Wilder backwards. Nice body punch from Rauparaha - that landed with a thud.
Rauparaha lands a hook to the side of the head. Rauparaha lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Rauparaha lands a body shot in the clinch.
Rauparaha lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Rauparaha softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Rauparaha lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Wilder or not. Rauparaha lands a left hand.
Rauparaha lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Wilder backwards. A short body shot lands from Rauparaha as the two fighters clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Rauparaha. Rauparaha cracks Wilder with a nice body shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rauparaha works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A short right hand to the side of the head by Rauparaha. Wilder takes a shot to the head. Rauparaha drops Wilder onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Wilder is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
That has opened up Frontalik Wilder's cut even more. Rauparaha dips a shoulder and cracks Wilder with a mighty uppercut! Wilder falls back against the cage and Rauparaha unloads with a barrage of strikes! Wilder is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Rauparaha screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Te Rauparaha! During a confident post fight interview, Te Rauparaha thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
