Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roy Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pat Barry! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barry takes a jab right on the kisser.
It looks like Pat Barry has been cut. Barry lands a head kick!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A solid leg kick lands there for Barry.
Nelson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Barry lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Barry darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Nelson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Barry counters with a body kick that stops Nelson in his tracks momentarily. Nelson looks to land a left hand but Barry moved out of range nicely. Barry slips under a jab. Nelson throws a leg kick but Barry checks it. Nelson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barry was well out of range. Poor timing from Nelson. A head kick lands from Barry that sends Nelson to the canvas. Nelson tries to scramble back to his feet but Barry brings him back down into side control.
It looks like Roy Nelson has been cut. Nelson struggling a bit here. Barry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nelson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Nelson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Nelson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nelson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Barry's corner is telling him to maintain position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Barry trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom. Barry looking to pass the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson pushes a forearm under Barry's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Barry is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
