Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Bashor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yuri Boyka! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boyka slaps away a takedown attempt from Bashor, before circling back to the center of the mat. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. A punch combination from Boyka misses. Bashor has a takedown stuffed. Bashor walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Bashor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Boyka circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Bashor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boyka swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyka lands a nice shot to the body.
Boyka connects with a crisp jab. Boyka avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Jab from Boyka. Boyka's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Boyka duly obliges. Boyka lands a jab-cross combination. Yuri Boyka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boyka looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bashor takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Bashor shoots in looking for a takedown but Boyka manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bashor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Some wild striking there from Boyka.
Bashor closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Boyka to the mat! Boyka manages to get full guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Boyka is trying to control the position but Bashor postures up. Boyka wants to sweep but no luck. Bashor missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boyka avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Bashor slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Boyka trying to keep a closed guard but Bashor is proving a slippery customer.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bashor's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Bashor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bashor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boyka swivels though and keeps the full guard. Boyka trying to keep a closed guard but Bashor is proving a slippery customer.
Bashor landing with the ground and pound. Boyka utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Boyka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bashor throwing strikes but missing. Boyka has momentary wrist control but Bashor slips an elbow through the middle. Bashor preventing the sweep. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Bashor is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Bashor trying to control the position from guard on top but Boyka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bashor postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bashor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Boyka avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Boyka working a defensive guard here.
Boyka wants to stand up but Bashor is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jason Bashor will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bashor is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Boyka. Bashor takes one to the chin there. Boyka ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Boyka scores with a hook to the body. Bashor takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Boyka tries to bum rush Bashor with a series of wild strikes but Bashor uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Boyka has closed the distance and engaged Bashor in a clinch.
Bashor is working for takedown but Boyka is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Bashor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bashor has Boyka pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bashor pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Boyka tumbling to the mat - Bashor dives into Boyka's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Boyka controls Bashor momentarily but Bashor frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bashor lands a couple of decent looking shots. Bashor landing with the ground and pound. Boyka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bashor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bashor stands up over Boyka, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Boyka wants to stand and escape but Bashor is having none of it. Boyka wants to sweep but no luck. Bashor with a flurry of punches that miss. Boyka working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bashor. Bashor is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Bashor throws a big right hand that misses. Boyka is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Boyka wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bashor manages to pass to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bashor is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Bashor throwing shots but Boyka is blocking nicely. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bashor scoring with strikes to the body and head. Bashor missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Bashor is nestled in close to Boyka, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Bashor not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Bashor thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boyka's head. Bashor throwing shots but Boyka is blocking nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Boyka has hold of Bashor's hands but Bashor slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Bashor trying to control from half guard but Boyka is working away. Boyka is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Bashor dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Boyka is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Boyka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Boyka fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Bashor on the side of the head. Crunch! Boyka slams his shin into Bashor's torso. Boyka shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bashor eats them both and turns towards Boyka to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Boyka throws a right hand that Bashor ducks under and follows up with a left that Bashor also avoids with ease. Boyka misses with a series of wild punches.

Danga de danga de dang - Boyka scores with a four punch combination! Bashor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Boyka as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Bashor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boyka digs a good body shot into Bashor's ribs. Yuri Boyka seems to be getting the better of the standup. Boyka rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bashor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boyka throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bashor. Bashor takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Boyka throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Bashor shoots in but no luck this time. No luck for Bashor with that takedown attempt. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Boyka scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bashor doesn't seem bothered though.
And that's the end of the fight! Yuri Boyka comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Bashor has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
