PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Huber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Persson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Huber comes into the arena with Enter Sandman blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Huber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Persson!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Persson lands with a nice body punch.
Huber slips a jab and a cross from Persson.
Persson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Huber.
Persson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Huber fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Huber. No joy for Persson on that attempt.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Huber. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Persson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Persson clobbers Huber with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Huber has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Huber there as he acknowledges the shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Persson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Persson wants to stand but Huber has his arm trapped.
Huber tries to buck Persson off but Persson is having none of it.

Huber manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Huber definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Persson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Huber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Huber is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Huber wants to pass to mount but Persson is defending the position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Huber connects with a nice short shot to Persson's temple.

Huber thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Persson's head.
Huber drops an elbow to the side of Persson's head.

Huber is looking for a kimura but Persson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Huber to get the leverage.

Huber is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Persson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Huber.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Huber takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Huber is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Persson is defending against the submission attempts here by Huber.

Huber maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Persson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Huber has cracked it and Persson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Huber!

In his post fight interview, Mario Huber started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
