PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Perraut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Laszlo Arpad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oliver Perraut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Laszlo Arpad!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arpad changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Perraut looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
A lull in the action here as Arpad stalls from top position.
You can see the frustration on Perraut's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Arpad wants to control but Perraut is keeping him busy.
Perraut is looking to reverse the position.
Arpad tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Perraut takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Arpad tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Arpad is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Perraut is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Perraut tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Arpad wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Arpad is looking to take a break and control but Perraut is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Arpad tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Arpad has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Perraut is looking for a sweep.
Arpad working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Perraut tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Arpad wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Perraut is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Arpad asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Arpad wants to lay and pray for a moment but Perraut keeps working.
Arpad tries to advance to mount but Perraut denies him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Arpad is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Perraut knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Arpad wants to stand but Perraut is controlling his arm.
Perraut is trying to control Arpad's posture but Arpad avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perraut is looking for a sweep.
Arpad working away.
Perraut sneaks back into half guard.
Arpad lands with a punch from half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Arpad seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Perraut does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Perraut gets back to full guard.
Arpad looks winded!
Perraut keeping moving, preventing Arpad from controlling successfully.
Arpad tries to stand but Perraut is controlling from the bottom.
Perraut looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Arpad is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Perraut has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Arpad is looking to defend but Perraut has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Arpad! Perraut pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Arpad taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Oliver Perraut!
