PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fabricio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geeves Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Armstrong has chosen Kickstart My Heart as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fabricio Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Geeves Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong lets loose with a powerful body kick. Silva will feel that in the morning.
Armstrong connects with a solid leg kick.
Silva moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Armstrong throws a quick inside leg kick.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Armstrong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Silva on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Armstrong. Armstrong obviously looking to wear him down.
Armstrong looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Armstrong pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silva tries to clinch up.
A chopping leg kick lands by Armstrong.
Armstrong scores with a jab. Silva acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Armstrong looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Armstrong is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Silva looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva tries to move into full mount but can't pass Armstrong's legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Armstrong is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We've been hearing that Silva has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Silva tries for a kimura but Armstrong is defending well.

Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Armstrong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Armstrong has eaten all the pies!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Silva swings around for an armbar but Armstrong sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Silva's guard.
Armstrong is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Armstrong defends it easily.

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Armstrong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Armstrong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Armstrong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Armstrong trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Silva is looking for a triangle here but Armstrong uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Silva is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Armstrong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fabricio Silva dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Armstrong displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.
Armstrong misses with a kick to the body.
Armstrong works the jab nicely.
Armstrong connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Silva takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Silva fails to land the takedown.
Silva throws a jab when Armstrong was well out of range.
Nice body kick there by Armstrong.
Armstrong bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Silva's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabricio Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva takes one to the side of the head.
Armstrong scores with a head kick.
Armstrong lands a nice leg kick that just misses Silva's sensitive parts.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Armstrong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Silva takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Silva fails with an attempt to clinch.
Armstrong fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Silva looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Armstrong lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Silva at a distance.
Geeves Armstrong is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Armstrong with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Armstrong throws a nice outside leg kick.
Armstrong jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Geeves Armstrong seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Armstrong connects with a single shot there.
Silva throws a predictable looking body shot
and Armstrong counters with a perfectly timed head kick, knocking Silva out cold! Wow, that took some serious skill and not a little luck! Armstrong is taking it in his stride though, strolling around like it's no big deal. What a guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Geeves Armstrong!
