Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Akins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cavan Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cartwright is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Irish Fighting Song. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Akins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cavan Cartwright!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akins fails with the takedown.

Cartwright told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Akins is looking for a triangle but Cartwright pushes his legs off easily.
Akins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Cartwright gets to his feet - Akins follows without any prompting.
Akins fails to land the takedown.

Cartwright instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akins drives through and clinches with Cartwright against the cage.

Akins is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cartwright is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Akins to the mat. Akins regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Akins seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Cartwright got a little sloppy there for a moment and Akins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cartwright has managed to get both his arms back between Akins's legs - danger averted.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cartwright shoots in for a takedown but Akins shows good takedown defense.

Akins gets tackled into the cage by Cartwright. Cartwright maintains the clinch.
Akins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cartwright walks away with a smile on his face. Akins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Akins is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cartwright gets his way!

Cavan Cartwright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Let's hope that Cartwright has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well Cartwright has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
