Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rex McLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLain comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny Cash-Cocaine Blues. Joseph Quinn has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rex McLain's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rex McLain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joseph Quinn! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinn's corner calls for a 1-2. Quinn obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Quinn tries to clinch up. Quinn wants to clinch and McLain counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. McLain looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. McLain thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Quinn's head. We've been hearing good reports from McLain's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. McLain wants to pass to mount but Quinn is defending the position. McLain not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. McLain is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. McLain decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. A right-left combo lands from McLain.
It looks like Joseph Quinn has been cut. McLain shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Quinn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. McLain trying to control the position from guard on top but Quinn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McLain stops Quinn from standing up. McLain postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quinn wants to get back to his feet but McLain is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. McLain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McLain looking to sit in guard and control but Quinn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Quinn wants to stand but McLain is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McLain tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rex McLain wasn't doing enough on the ground. Quinn stuffs the takedown attempt from McLain. McLain gets slowly back to his feet. Quinn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McLain manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. McLain misses with a left hand and Quinn counters with a lovely shot to the body. Quinn tries to clinch there but McLain circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quinn lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Quinn fails in his attempt to clinch. Quinn tries to clinch but McLain is having none of it. Quinn wants to clinch. Quinn tries to clinch but McLain is having none of it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Quinn lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Quinn's jab looks to have found its range, popping McLain under the eye. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rex McLain will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Joseph Quinn's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Quinn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Quinn fails with a takedown attempt. McLain tries to clinch but Quinn moves out of range. Quinn is looking to take this fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McLain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Quinn is fending him off so far but McLain persists. Nope, Quinn circles away and we're back to standing. Quinn tries to clinch but fails miserably and McLain holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McLain's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Quinn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Quinn scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Quinn tries to clinch there but McLain circles away.
Quinn lands a big head kick that sends McLain tumbling to the mat! Quinn takes a step backwards and waves McLain back to his feet - he wants the finish!
McLain is rocked!
It looks like Rex McLain has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Quinn clinches up with McLain and pushes him back against the cage. Oh McLain is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Quinn lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. A head punch blocked on the inside by McLain. McLain seems to have got his legs back now. McLain blocks a punch to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quinn misses with a punch on the inside.
Quinn is pressed up against the cage. McLain has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Quinn down to the mat. Quinn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rex McLain. That's going to take a lot out of him. Quinn lands a big head kick that sends McLain tumbling to the mat! Quinn takes a step backwards and waves McLain back to his feet - he wants the finish! We've been informed that Quinn has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. No joy there for McLain, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Quinn tries to clinch but McLain is having none of it. Quinn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McLain as he jumps to the side. McLain looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Quinn! Quinn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McLain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The ground and pound from McLain seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McLain decides to take the fight back to the feet. Quinn's jab looks to have found its range, popping McLain under the eye. Quinn doesn't manage to clinch there - McLain circles away.

A right-left combo lands from Quinn. Quinn is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. McLain throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Quinn.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quinn connects with a jab. Quinn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McLain manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Quinn throws a quick head kick that skims the top of McLain's head. Nice cross by Quinn. Quinn scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Some bone on bone action there as Quinn checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McLain takes one to the chin there. McLain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Quinn tries to avoid it but McLain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Quinn to the ground. Quinn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joseph Quinn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
The fight stays on the outside here - Quinn looks like he's thinking about clinching though. McLain tries to clinch but Quinn moves out of range. McLain swats away the attempt to clinch by Quinn. Quinn throws a nice head kick!

Quinn tries to clinch up and McLain counters with a stiff right hand. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. McLain jabs Quinn to the body, keeping him at a distance. Quinn digs a good body shot into McLain's ribs. Quinn throws a quick head kick that skims the top of McLain's head. Quinn is looking to clinch. Quinn looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McLain is fending him off so far but Quinn persists. Nope, McLain circles away and we're back to standing. Quinn closes the distance but McLain moves to the side and McLain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Joseph Quinn seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McLain misses with a takedown attempt - Quinn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Quinn has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Quinn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McLain manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Quinn instigates a clinch. Quinn softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Quinn prevents the takedown attempt.
A short right from Quinn. Quinn lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Quinn is trying to break free. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Quinn manages to break the clinch.

McLain pushes down on Quinn's head and hops out. Quinn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Quinn is looking to chop away at McLain's legs. McLain is looking to clinch but Quinn is avoiding it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McLain tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Quinn defends well and McLain ends up having to push Quinn into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. McLain blocking some punches.
And that's the end of the fight! Joseph Quinn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Quinn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
