Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin's entrance music is The Claw. A fine choice. Power has chosen Dangerous as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power moves forwards but Griffin connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Griffin misses with a body shot.
Power shoots in but Griffin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Griffin has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Rutgers Athletic Club in the buildup to the fight.
Griffin looks to land a body kick but Power moved away.

Power is taking a breather. Griffin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Danny Power has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Power does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Power misses with a hook. Griffin ducked under it nicely.

The fight stays on the outside here - Griffin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Griffin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Power was well out of range. Poor timing from Griffin.
This has been an exciting period of action!

so Power counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Power won't allow Griffin to sweep him here.
Power in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Griffin is pulling down on Power's head. It's preventing any offense from Power, at least for the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Griffin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Power rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Power has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Griffin thows a body kick. Power tries to catch it but that hurt him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Power is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Griffin's half guard.

Griffin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Griffin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Power has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Power and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
