Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karl Dall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Quarto Vjadenek! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dall fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vjadenek looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Vjadenek should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Vjadenek clinches. Dall is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Dall presses Vjadenek against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Dall breaks from the clinch.
Vjadenek takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Dall ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vjadenek has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Dall lands a nice shot that snaps Vjadenek's head back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Vjadenek on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Dall dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Vjadenek shoots in and drives through. Dall sprawls well. Vjadenek dives in for a single leg takedown but Dall sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Vjadenek looks winded! Vjadenek is trying to stall.
Dall is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Dall escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dall shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Vjadenek eats them both and turns towards Dall to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Dall scores with the left hand. Vjadenek knows he should have avoided that one. Nice takedown defense from Dall. No joy for Vjadenek on that attempt. Karl Dall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quarto Vjadenek. Dall scores with a jab to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dall lands a nice hook to Vjadenek's body. Dall dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Dall lands a left and a right that send Vjadenek crashing to the mat, dazed. Dall thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Dall connects with a combination that backs up Vjadenek into the cage. Dall lands a flurry of punches that gets past Vjadenek's guard. Vjadenek is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Dall bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karl Dall! Karl Dall bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
